About Connecting Classrooms
Connecting Classrooms is a project funded by the British Council.
What does Connecting Classrooms do?
Connecting Classrooms provides cluster groups of three schools with the chance to partner with schools from two different countries in sub-Saharan Africa and the UK. The purpose of the programme is to enable intercultural dialogue and to increase knowledge and understanding of each other's societies.
How do the partnerships come together?
Schools apply to the programme in clusters of three. If successful, they will be invited to a contact seminar where they will form partnerships with two other clusters from two other countries. Each seminar allows these new partnerships to become established and start planning their project together. Each partnership will consist of 3 UK schools, plus 3 schools from one African country and 3 schools from another African country.

The Norkengha partnership was formed in April 2007, at a 4 day contact seminar in Edinburgh. During the seminar, a representative from each local cluster met with others and forged links, which led to the formation of partnerships. Plans were made for the first year's project, which included joint educational ventures; international visits; communication plans and budgeting.
